Finding a holiday job for the upcoming holidays...

We are approaching the holidays and what better way can we enjoy our holidays than making same income to spoil yourself after a stressful semester!!!!!! You have worked really hard and you are close to the finish line of the academic and its safe to say that you deserve a well rested break from academics and to also spoil yourself. Think about those shoes that you've always wanted to buy and going to the movies with friends and just having fun.... Now is the time to start thinking of what you can do to earn yourself some extra cash for these coming holidays. What you can start doing: Browse the internet for holiday jobs and part time jobs in restaurants and retail shops like your grocery shops, clothing shops, footwear and the garage. These shops are often looking for extra employees in December. Once you have found an open position, start working on your CV and submit it to the relevant email. Apply and submit as many CV as possible to most if not all vacant posts as this increase

As the academic year comes to an end...

Reflecting on this last semester... As the academic year comes to an end, most of us are filled with fear of the unknown, anxiety, stress, anxiousness and maybe joy that the year is finally coming to end because we can all agree that a break from academics  is much needed. Some may be stressed about examination preparations and some look forward to working harder to scoop those distinctions that they have longed for since the beginning the semester. A few tips: Try by all means to start studying now for you examinations, preparing early makes it way much easier for you when the exam season begins. Preparing well in advance allows you even much more time to consult with your tutors and lectures for clarity on anything. Consultations with lecturers are sometimes beneficial because the lecturer gives you light in he right direction of what to focus on and how to approach questions in the exam. Avoid by all means, cramming your work as the lecturers want to test your understanding and not

Finishing the year 2022 on a high note!

  We are almost there, only two months left to the year 2023, make them count... This is the best time to take a look back some of those 2022 new year's resolutions . Have we achieved the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year and if not, how far are we ? At this stage of the year, it is important to reflect on your personal growth and see if you need to make any changes to anything to improve on what you are not entirely satisfied with.  How can we make this reflection: 1. Take time out of our busy schedules and write down what you have achieved in terms of the goals that        you have set for yourself and what have not you achieved and the reasons for not achieving these goals. 2. Once you have took note of these, celebrate yourself for those achievements, whether big or small, pat yourself on the back as it may have not being easy. 3. Then ask yourself why you may have not achieved you other goals and see if you  can still work on those goals because its not l
 Maintaining a healthy lifestyle... Being busy does not make it an excuse for us to eat junk food all the time, our body need good nourishment to keep up with the business we keep it in. We need to consume enough nutrients to sustain the energy we need in our busy schedules. A bit of exercise and most importantly hydrating our body, is much needed as it helps our brains and reduces fatigue because sometimes we just don't get enough rest. Here are a few tips that can be taken into consideration.: 1. Try by all means to have a cooked meal instead of living off of junk, fatty fast foods/take-aways. If you get busy to a point where cooking on a daily basis might not be an option for you, the consider making meal preps on  Sunday or when you have a free day that will last you for at least 4-5 days that you can easily that warm up and dish it up. Try to include vegetables in your meals. 2. Try have a fruit or a health snack while busy studying or working on a task at work  This is becaus

Preparing ahead and sticking to the plan...

 Just simply doing what we planned to do saves us alot of panick and stress... Be it personal commitments, work commitments or academic commitments, if you know that you need to do something always try be all means to avoid procrastination. As they say, 'procrastination is the thief of time' and you will always regret not doing what you had to do on time, while you still have time. By waiting and leaving what you have to do for last minutes will only add more stress and frustration that it would have if you had attempted to do it while you still have time to even pace yourself. Here is what I've learned from procrastinating and some of the changes that I had to make from the consequences: 1. Today I want to emphasize the importance of mental health and attaining a positively healthy state of mind!   Those of us who don't really know what mental health is, here is breakdown (remember that its always good learn a new term when you come across it☺) MENTAL HEALTH includes our psychological, emotional, and social well-being.                                   it impacts how we feel, how we acts, and ultimately how we act. Sometimes having a lot of  commitments often puts pressure and a heavy weight on our shoulders. Our personal lives sometimes triggers stress levels and not having anyone to talk to about some of the challenges we often face can burdens us. Maintaining a balance between 'me time' and 'academics':  How does one strike a balance between academics and self-care when school gets one so busy? ACADEMICS SOCIAL LIFE These are some of the things that have worked well for me... 1. Make time for yourself too, it's important for your mental health and wellbeing. It is very important for one to always make time for their personal life outside from being a student. You do not want to find yourself miserable and missing out on enjoying life outside from school, so make time for yourself by going to the salon to get your hair done and taking a walk around campus or your neighborhood and most importantly make time for your family as they can be your greatest support system during difficult times such as exam or test periods. 2.
